Historic Excelsior

Historic Excelsior is a preservation project dedicated to honoring the legacy of the original Excelsior Club, one of Charlotte’s most historically significant cultural institutions. As a gathering place for civic engagement, entertainment, and community advancement, the Excelsior Club played a pivotal role in the city’s Black social and political history.

This project is committed to safeguarding that legacy by supporting cultural research, archival preservation, and planning for future revitalization. Through collaborative partnerships, Historic Excelsior aims to celebrate the stories, leaders, and moments that shaped the region’s progress.
